The Big Shift, as its title suggests, is one of those books that purports to divine a single, telling fact to explain Canada now. In the rest of the book, I’ll need more evidence to prove the proposition that the country has undergone a profound and permanent political rupture. And of course, written before the election, it is hard not to view this work with a “missed the boat” sentiment.
