This woman seems to have idea how to write a damn plot. THERE'S AN ATTACK ON THE CROWN, which we're never actually told about. What's the point of this attack? Why is this one person being targeted? How will keeping him alive save the day? What makes Damien the best person to foil this plot? The maid was just confronted: SHE ADMITTED, but not to doing anything? What was she supposedly doing? NOTHING MAKES SENSE.

JFC, literally every "suspect" our characters have named has been suspicious bc they flirt with someone. The architect flirted with Emily! It could be him! The maid flirted with Winthrop! It could be her! Some random lady named Mrs. Batleigh flirted with Damien! It could be her! If you guys are the best spies available, England is doomed.

This book just keeps getting sloppier. "He closed the lid and stood, looking into her eyes." AND LITERALLY 10 SENTENCES LATER "He closed the lid and stood, his gaze skirting hers." When did he kneel back down and reopen that lid? C'mon, now.
