I recently heard these book described like cookbooks - you read the recipe to give yourself a starting point then meddle. That metaphor has already made this far more enjoyable to read because I'm not taking what the author says as pure gospel.

This book is defiantly meant to be read before her other book " Character arcs " It helps understand what she means when she references to something from her other book. It really helps make you understand how to get the reader really hooked!
