Status Updates From Ukryta siła

Very compelling argument for veganism that may have hit me at just the right time… I generally feel gross when I eat meat, and am increasingly troubled by the ethical implications of mindlessly gnawing on the flesh and muscle tissue of formerly sentient beings.

I suspect it would be very difficult for me to quit animal products cold turkey (semi-pun semi-intended), but it seems like a challenge worth pursuing.

Was troubled by the chapter about Rich’s dead-on-arrival marriage to a woman he loved; on the one hand, it strikes me as completely understandable for his partner to be worried about his alcoholism, and who can really blame someone for truly falling in love with someone else? (she could definitely be blamed for not taking accountability though).

Life seems so unavoidably painful sometimes.

Intrigued, and slightly surprised at the extent to which I find Rich’s perspectives relatable (minus the elite athletics and academics).

Given Rich’s myriad and impressive accomplishments, I think I was expecting this book to be a tiresome litany of humble brags, but it doesn’t seem to be panning out that way.

I’m along for the ride, curious to see how this one evolves.
