Status Updates From San Miguel

Die anfänglich so harmlose, wenn auch tragische Geschichte entwickelt sich immer mehr zum Alptraum. Und ist nun sehr spannend.

Marantha, ihr Mann Will, und deren Adoptivtochter Edith, sowie die junge Haushälterin Ida bilden den Cast. Sie ziehen auf die Insel, wegen der guten Luft. Aber alles wird schlechter, Marantha immer kränker, Will verroht zusehends, und Mutter und Tochter sind sich einig dass sie wieder zurück aufs Festland wollen.
Dauert etwas bis die Geschichte Fahrt aufnimmt, aber jetzt bin ich voll dabei.

Continues to be a great historical literary read. I haven't read Boyle for a while, so it's great to get back to him again...

I did not expect to enjoy this novel so much!

But then, I've found reading about homesteading really does it for me. Building chicken coops, raising barns, digging latrines, ploughing the lower 40, planting veg gardens, whitewashing walls, greasing tack, building and mending fences, etc etc etc. Could entertain me all day....

Ugh this is so boring I had to put it down. There is nothing grabbing me, no character drawing me in. I may go back to it just because I hate to not finish
