Status Updates From Doubt, a Parable

"If I could, Sister James, I would certainly choose to live in innocence. But innocence can only be wisdom in a world without evil. Situations arise and we are confronted with wrongdoing and the need to act." (24)

This reminds me a lot of James Baldwin's quote of innocence as complicity: “[A]nyone who insists on remaining in a state on innocence long after that innocence is dead turns himself into a monster.”

Reading this at the same time as Releasing 10 is crazy. I don’t need to be reading about these kinds of relationships all the time.
