I want to live this book but I keep getting hung up on modernisms. Morganite seemed strange to me so I looked it up. It was called. Pink Beryl until 1910. Vegetables weren't known to contain fiber till 1953. This book is set in 1813. Add that to the odd modern word and misspellings, I'm wondering if I'm going to enjoy the story, which has very different elements from the usual regency, or looking for oopsies.

I am being beaten over the head with how his sister can’t have children and he has to carry on the bloodline, interrupted only by passages that read like myjewishlearning.com and it is KILLING ME not to mention it’s not really portraying anything good about being Jewish like, at all? I’m so disappointed. I’m going to try to finish this book but goodness gracious I want to DNF.

Every second sentence is basically “but we have to stay hidden because we’re Jews” and it’s exhausting

I’m reading this because it’s about Jews and representation for us is sorely lacking. That said, the writing already leaves something to be desired for me. Sigh.
