Status Updates From Parched

Above Earth and then farther away, until Earth is no longer visible.
I just keep traveling, farther and farther and farther away into the deafening silence of space.
Into blackness. Into the void. And then, finally, thankfully, into nothing.
No feeling is final. Except for your last.

Throughout history, the revolutionary underground has made the same mistakes, they’re idealists, not realists. They’re more interested in personal agendas or chaos for the sake of chaos. They have no practical sense of how to achieve change.

Friendship is based on shared values.

When I scream, it’s a wail that’s primal and painful. I cry for everything: for my mom, for the fact that I will never, ever see her again. I cry for having to always pretend that I am okay, that I am tough enough to survive this. And I cry because I am so completely alone.

I exhale, sagging with relief. “It was just so hard,” I say. “Being out there and seeing these skinny kids every single day and knowing I couldn’t do anything about it.” My throat tightens. A tear slips down my cheek, and I quickly wipe it away.

Look. All this exists because people out there are dying and the government is letting it happen. They’re making it happen.

A scorching wave of tears rushes up and a painful, strangled gasp escapes my throat. I clamp my hand over my mouth. If I start crying now, I’ll never be able to stop.

If you want to be happy in this world, you have to learn how to survive on your own. You don’t need a partner.
I mean, you’d be better off independent, If you only rely on yourself, you’ll never be let down. Partners weaken us. Oh sure, love is grand, love is flowers and sunsets, but love fades.
Love is just a chemical called dopamine and that doesn’t last.
