I love how Jessica weaved knowledge about plants, history and her own life together. It makes the plant knowledge a lot better digestible and it gives a good flow to the chapters.

I’ve read this book slowly, largely since it’s written in the form of a series of narrative essays, and each one has so much to offer. My favorite portions so far have been about soy beans, and citrus fruit. As a whole, it’s been interesting to read vivid descriptions of plants that the diasporic Asian-European author has vivid relationships with, but which are largely unfamiliar to me.
