Status Updates From Fire Song (Siren Song, #3)

Ok, the politics are a bit too much, but I LOVE the characters in this book, especially Alys, she takes no shit from anyone & doles out medieval wisdom:

"Men are not very sensible creatures. A man expects the woman he loves to feel exactly what he feels, even about things no woman could like. When she does not, he takes that as meaning that she does not love him in return."

"He was instantly aflame, bending double to bite her thighs & thrust his face between them, The sleepy hand, tensing as Fenice grew aware, closed over what it had only touched by accident, & stroked lovingly, while laughter gurgled from her until choked off by the more urgent activity of her mouth."

This scene is rather explicit, but when I 1st read this I had no idea what they were doing! What was wrong with me?

I was on my Kindle and fell down one of those rabbit-holes to find myself re-reading this favorite. I have a dog-eared version somewhere but have no patience to look for whatever box it's in, so I just bought the e-book. It's been ten years and Fenice is still one of the most complex, amazing heroines. I can't wait for her and Aubery to finally meet!

"Now you will be lessoned for that past offense," Fenice continued, "so that you will make no mistake ever again as to whom your instant obedience belongs."
