Status Updates From Live (Burnside, #1)

This book is soft and lush and beautifully written, but I may have finally come across a book that’s TOO interior? TOO MUCH inner monologue and rumination?

So far this one is pretty blah. Nothing is really happening other than they have Walter Mitty-esque fantasies about each other. Something needs to happen soon or I'm giving up.

The writing in this book is exquisite.

Not what I imagined plus boring so far...

Setting it down for now. Not what I'm in the mood for.

But even if they simply said good-bye, now, would the cut be any less deep? God. It was so going to suck to see the sweet peas bloom on her dome and the snow pile on top of it. Also, she might never be able to hang out in the back of POS Limo ever again. Or eat donuts. Or drink tea. Or look at a map of the United Kingdom. Or of China. Or of the world, possibly. No atlas browsing at all.This good but depressing

The characters are sweet, but I can't help but to just be sad reading this. I'm not seeing a good outcome...even though it has to have one, right?

I'm not sure if I love Mary Ann Rivers' writing style or I hate it. I think I like it, but that this story is slow and a little sad.

Tension!

Des talking about her dad is making me teary-eyed. Reminds me of my own dad.

I am trying to read some of the books that have been on my kindle for awhile. So far, this book is so beautifully written. The descriptions of every day feelings/things is so beautiful. It makes you want to look at them differently!

3.5 stars. Lovely and unique characters, but MAR's writing style is still a bit TOO MUCH sometimes. She has improved since her novellas and I think that with the influence of Knox, Bell, Grant etc, she'll get to the 4 stars soon enough.

She closed her eyes. He was just too much with his domes and flowers for her sister and smooth cheeks and hot outfit. She was starting to feel like he had gravity, and being around him was feeling kind of inevitable. It was more surprising than knowing she was falling for him, could love him.

Destiny reached for his hand and pulled him back over her.It felt so good to feel her skin against his.So he just put his arms around her and she, thankfully,put her arms around him. Then he reached around to put his hand around her nape and hold her even closer. He could feel his heart beating in his chest,slow and glad. "I want you to know that you're wonderful, Helfin Thomas." He held her tighter

They kissed nice and slow, their breath back in their chests and not so expansive. The kissing was only difficult when she couldn't stop smiling. And then he just kissed over her smiles. When he lost his rhythm, grinning, she kissed over his grin. It went on that way for a while. Smiles against kisses. Kisses against grins. Loving this.
