I find this book difficult. The author has a very different way of writing. She has so many opportunities to describe an event or build a scene yet skips over it and I find myself wondering what is going on. Or more importantly how did the character feel or get to that feeling. I will keep going as the reviews are very positive. I am not seeing it so far.

?? Touches of Jane Eyre ?? Or is it just a characteristic of all gothic novels?

It isn't the best writing, but I'm really enjoying the storyline.

Nope, sorry, can't read any more of this... halfway through & can't take any more. It lurches from Victorian melodrama to just plain rubbish. No chemistry between the main characters, a mish mash of hysterical drama, vampire/angel mythology... if it was written well, it could have made it work, but not for me.

Ok, so I'm in the mood for a dark, gothic, vamp story. I read the author's spiel on her blog and thought that this might fit the bill. Just one question: how long before I see an actual vampire? So far, there's been only a bunch of suspicious pale jealous people ;D
