Status Updates From Chasing the Storm

It's as though he just enjoyed the pretty word pictures. Although I enjoy them, too, it's not appropriate in an edgy thriller. I see why other reviewers said the descriptions became disruptive to the storytelling--and I'm only in chapter 4!! oops.

I've just finished chapter 3 and am starting Ch 4, and now the level of description has shifted to a prosaic level. The author is trying too hard to describe things artistically and not using the setting descriptions to actually set a tone or mood in synch with the storyline.

One of the things I'm really enjoying is the level of detail in the descriptions. It's just enough (in Chapters 1 & 2 anyway) to make the scenery feel authentic and as though the author has actually been in each location, touched the items described, knows what he's writing.

at merely 1% in I was hooked and there's been no loss of quality past the opener (that's lately become something of a trend with indie authors: start out strong then slack off. Not with Molsted's taut thriller. The mystery increases nicely and with it the tension and anticipation. Nicely done!
