Status Updates From Caught in a Moment

Well at least it's getting slightly more interesting.

I'm already disappointed. This book is self-published and it's easy to see why. The writing is basic with too much description. I don't care about any of the characters, even Alex. It puts a bad taste in my mouth that the school bully uses homophobia to taunt Alex (he's not gay); likewise, Alex refers to a classmate as "the fat girl with B.O."

It's early on so I'm going to give it a chance but it's not looking good.

Ugh. A derisive, size-based characterization of one girl would have been problematic enough; three such characterizations in as many chapters is too bloody many. Other factors were troubling me too. This is just the last straw. I'm getting out of this main character's head and out of this book.
