Ugh chapter 3 Toddler to Teen: takeaways — pointless to educate girls, most didn’t want to educate the poor (scared of uprising and loss of deference to upper class). Public schools were for the wealthy. The poor became apprenticed which meant leaving their parents for 7-14 years as basically indentured servants. Probably will end up dead or cripple.

Just read the chapter on “Breeding” - please let’s not go back to this time — women valued for having kids only, no birth control, dying in child birth, out of wed pregnancies sent women to poorhouses. Such a terrible time to be a woman!
