It wasn’t until Jayden’s hand rubbed over a nipple, the one place on Darren’s chest he’d never touched before, that Darren really reacted, and when he did, it was to hastily break the kiss and pull Jayden’s hand away.
“Sorry, sorry—shit, did that…?”
“No,” Darren said breathlessly, and Jayden shifted to peer at his face. “If you don’t want this to go all the way, you don’t touch me there.”

Everything's too swell for them right now for me to believe that it'll continue, ultimately setting off my suspicious radar a-tingling. 😟

Writing is a bit better than my first time with this author, but will keep my expectations low for my own sake. 🤞🏻

“‘Are you…are you suicidal?”
The word hung in the air, almost visible. Darren could picture it: looping calligraphy, glittery blue, gleaming in the gloom. And then it would spark out, one end to the other.”

“Darren knew he was depressed. He didn’t need a degree in psychology to figure that one out. And he knew that he had absolutely no reason to be. He was just like those emo kids on the internet who cut themselves because Mummy didn’t buy them a pony, […]. Admittedly, he’d never moaned on a forum which glorified putting out cigarettes on your elbows about it, but he was just as bad. Why should he be depressed?”

Love this line!
"...funnily enough, I don’t like homophobic people. I’m gay, it’s kind of in the special glittery contract they make you sign when you go to get your first pair of skinny jeans.”

I’m enjoying the relationship. The writing is meant to be humorous, but only partly succeeds; it feels like it’s trying too hard. The setting (Wolverhampton) is accurate in *some* respects, but quite off in others. Some of the descriptions are cliche.
