I honestly think you need some understanding of physics before coming into the book. Otherwise, it's actually a fun read!

first impressions: i was worried it would not be palatable at all as i am close to what a layperson would be in physics. my knowledge is limited to high school physics and what my dad, a physicist, would talk to me about. but we never go as deep as quantum physics. i think a basic understanding of the standard model outside of sean carroll's explanation would complement his illustration well.
