Status Updates From Flow: The Cultural Story of...

I don't think I like the cut of this book's jib. The authors go off on tangents, all in a cutesyish "too cool" conversational style, but often don't provide enough evidence to back up their claims. The advertising chapter is very interesting, but they claim women in tampon ads are shown by water to reinforce that periods are dirty. Possible but - the example ads are clearly to show u can swim in white w/ tampons in!

The book's conversational style is starting to bug me a bit. More annoying was the too-lengthy chapter on hysteria that appears to have heavily leaned on a now debunked book.

I love this cover art! Also love all the vintage "femcare" ads illustrating the text.
