This edition rocks (ignore the dumb cover) -- the translator's note and the introduction were both really enlightening, and I'm finding this translation so much more rich than the last one I tried. I'm connecting with it when I really didn't the first time around. Also helpful explanatory endnotes!

Is it time? A glaring hole in my reading career is Faust. So much is downstream it, and I have a lot of respect - almost too much - because I know that if it doesn’t open up, the fault is clearly mine.

The mistake I’ve made has been to attempt to read it in English. Last night I started in Norwegian and it was immediately clear that this time it would be different.
