Lots of fun. Flashman definitely reminds me of Donald Jack’s Bartholomew Bandy, but Royal Flash also seems similar to a book I enjoyed, called For Murder I Charge More, by Frank McAuliffe. Anyway, Flashman has completed the training he did not want to do, has had unpleasant adjustments made to his appearance that he does not like, and is ready for the secret mission he would rather ditch. On we go!

First, this is really working for me; I figured it would, because The Reavers, a “later, lesser” work by the author, was fun, and that boded well for GMF’s vastly more successful series. Secondly, the closest I’ve read to Flashman stuff, but from my country, is the Bandy Papers series by Donald Jack, which I love. In fact, this book reminds me of Me Bandy, You Cissie just a bit. Guessing Jack was inspired by Flashy.
