Interesting observations on how the education debate has been framed alters the possible reform outcomes. The author doesn't say it, but after Common Core fails, might we have a chance to change it past test scores/centralized gov't control?

Depressingly accurate account for the bipartisan nature of "reform" in the past. Right wants more bang for tax buck, Left wants better opportunities for underprivileged, but neither side has any real concrete plan to achieve these things. So more tests appear, since without broad quantification no claims of progress can be made. Rather than Left/Right, the conflict is Teachers/Outsiders.

You know it's gonna be an intense read when the first 11 pages take you an hour to read and you've bookmarked half the appendix already.
