Terror seized her. She ran blindly, swiftly through the kitchen, banging into the island in the darkness.
Some primeval sense of impending doom seized her. A sliver of light from the street light outside flickered briefly, creating a shadow in its midst, a shadow of a man walking slowly…calmly into the dark kitchen. She wasn’t alone. He was here inside and he knew where she was.
