Status Updates From The Gift of the Magi and Ot...

The Last Leaf brought me to tears! I feel like I need to sit and savor every one of O. Henry’s short stories. Every time I read one of his short stories I feel as if I’m falling into a small picture of the past with all the warmth, sweetness, sorrow, and humor of each picture of life he paints. Also- I really loved A Retrieved Reformation, and the AR mention made me smile haha.

I have loved this book so far (I have the penguin clothbound classics version- I couldn’t find it here). O. Henry can weave such beautiful stories with meanings that will stick with you long after the words have slipped from your mind. I realized a bit into The Gift of the Magi that the story was so familiar and touching. I also found myself very invested in The Cop and The Anthem. What a perfect Christmas read.
