3.5 & 3 / 172.5:52. Canterville Ghost. Didn’t need to read this yet again but was suitably entertained. Spectre Spiders. Nicely gruesome if a bit far fetched and very much of its time in its depiction of moneylenders.

3.5 / 166:50. Where Angels Fear. Nicely written and engaging story where the protagonists don’t quite realise that they’ve met their fate.

4 / 162.5:49. In The Pines. Decent malevolent/malicious spirit story, enthrallingly written if with a few caricatures and some hard to swallow actions.

3.5. 158.5:48. Out of The Wrack. Fairly standard revenge tale but effectively written and sustains the interest.

3.5/155:47 The Folly. A decent entry in the paranormal investigator field, with definite social conscience, and an unusual, if obvious-from-an-early-stage (but-that-doesn’t-matter) trigger.

3 / 151.5:46. A Ghost Story. Quite entertaining once it gets going, and a pretty funny conclusion. But nothing special.

4. 148.5:45. Between-Maid. Straightforward tale, lucidly and engagingly written. Actually manages to elicit a little shiver when the maid leers.

2. 145.5:45. Old Dining Room. Faintly interesting case of possession with rather too many pat circumstances. Any air of the extraordinary is dampened by the breezy style.

4/143.5:43 Laploshka. Cuttingly amusing as ever from Saki. An inversion of values leading to a temporary haunting.

3.5/139.5:42. Tears of St. Agathé. Not a highly original premise - ghost points out holy relics - but the telling is highly compelling and it’s an effective read.
