Why the fuck have I only ever heard of Nelson Mandela before, these other political figures are insanely interesting - can't help but feel Nyerere sounds lowkey goated but I don't know if things will change as I progress in time through this book....

I am ashamed (on behalf of the education system that raised me) to admit how much I am learning right now - African history really gets very minimal consideration in US classrooms beyond a very crude "that's where slaves came from"
