Simultaneously trying to find things to like about this while also trying to pinpoint what I don't like. Other than the fact it's a historical fiction mystery - two of my least favourite genres. How do you tell someone nicely that you are bored by a book they like?

This is a complete wildcard. I asked my husband to pick my next book and he chose this. Didn't realise it was the third in a series and I don't know if he realises that either. The writing is so-so, characters not grabbing me so far. We'll see how it goes.
