The strength of this book is the neutral explanations of the geiko/Geisha lifestyle from someone embedded fully in the culture. The weakness is when she talks about her own perspective about her life because she never does anything wrong ever and if she does, we should all feel bad about it.

This was recommended to read instead of "Memoirs of a Geisha" after I enjoyed Memoirs of a Geisha because it's the actual story of a real life Geisha and so far it's very enjoyable. The family dynamics are very interesting and so are her memories of her childhood.
