But that changes once the author begins to describe the “American System of manufacturing”—a phrase he puts in air quotes, because it did not denote an assembly line until Henry Ford’d Model-T. Then, this book becomes becomes loaded with pure catnip: ideas and phrases that may bore others but are everything to me.
