I'm a bit disappointed that the Unclean just happened to find out that Hiero is still alive. I'd been rather looking forward to some hilarious and awesome shenanigans where they're completely caught off-guard by it, but alas.

So, the Unclean have managed to genetically engineer catgirls! Even the broken clock is right twice a day.

Mention of recesses of the mind that even Hiero knew nothing about. A clue of more - perhaps greater - mental powers to come, to replace the ones lost? Interesting.

Of course, look like there'll be peril at hand at first, too. But nothing comes without challenge or sacrifice.

A perilous start. Just enough establishing the new setting and some local circumstances, friends and dangers - then it's straight back to the fray. And with his powers gone!

I hope he'll get them back. The psychic stuff's been a highlight of these books for me.
