I read a one start review on this book to the effect that it wasn’t as they anticipated and is essentially the meanderings of an elderly woman of God while in the garden and I thought “that’s just the lady I want to hear from!”
Planning to read by the months as the book is written so it shall be a slow burn but I presume a good one 🥲

I’ve been really enjoying this book. Just taking each chapter a month… can’t believe it’s almost June.

“The difference between rising at five o’clock and at seven o’clock in the morning, for the space of forty years, is nearly equivalent to the addition of ten years to a man’s life.”

I have been rereading sections of this small gem of a book regularly for 30 years. The thoughts, observations, insights and comments of a true English country woman and gardener reground me no matter which month I pick it up and read. Her peaceful musings about her garden and countryside feel like gentle conversation. Where is my cup of tea?
