SPOILERS
Conclusion to the third story.
Story 3: Dead Man's Mirror
Very dramatic and extreme main characters (the deceased, who we don't actually meet but is like a Viking god who is successful in all his endeavors, and his occult, flighty wife). The adopted daughter's mom, who was secretly working as a ghostwriter for the dead man, was the murderer.

SPOILERS: finished the 2nd story and want to keep track of the conclusion
....
story 2 - the incredible theft - no murder, just stolen government plans, which the government official who created them, just kept in his pocket - and they ended up being tweaked anyway to give to an enemy to mislead them. A neat twist, but felt like a waste of time.

SPOILER!!! ... Trying to keep track of the conclusion of each of the 4 stories.
Story 1: Murder in the Mews - It WAS a suicide after all! What a neat little twist. Things were feeling like a surprisingly predictable short story, and then the twist! The friend of the deceased woman made it look like a suspicious suicide in order to get back at the man that was blackmailing the deceased.
