Status Updates From Women, Race, & Class

[Frederick Douglass] succeeded in amending a resolution dehning delegates so that it would be "understood 'to include women,' " an amendment that was carried "with three cheers for women's rights!"

Within the confines of their family and community life, therefore, Black people managed to accomplish a magnificent feat. They transformed that negative equality which emanated from the equal oppression they suffered as slaves into a positive quality: the egalitarianism characterizing their social relations.

This is taking me quite a while to read because I’m reading it with a friend via spasmodically occurring phone calls rather than on my own, thus bare with me on this one

Reading essay 7 on the morning of July 4th hits different. Quote from essay 6 that hit me:
