No way for Dinah to prepare for it. Dinah cries from rage not fear. She feels defeated having her son snatched from her.

Chapter 5 = We become privy to what physically happens to Dinah in all it details from the kidnapping. Dinah = 28 yo, Whit 34 yo.

Chapter 3 = Robbie is a smart, bright child who loves games. Dinah is tired from being being a first time mom. She seems to be an apprehensive new mother. Whit is her husband.

Chapter 4 = This novel has layers. It feels likes waves lapping over us as different angles of the kidnapping are revisited from different angles. Kidnapping was so swift.

Chapter 2 = Dinah says she isn't a cruel parent. If living a good life it should be suffused with the strength of happiness. Chapter 2 is the inner workings of being a mother/motherhood. Robbie is taken from his mother. Dinah is hit over the head, blood drips into her eyes, she is dragged under the kidnappers van and left for dead.

Chapter 1 Jugged Hare with red wine is a British classic dish that is tenderized though long cooking time. Very foreboding chapter and very atmospheric read overall Chapters 1-5.

Chapter 2 Being tired is an ordinary weakness as seen by Dinah. Being Tired is Dinah's secret shame/alarm/disappointment. Tiredness lessens her senses/awareness. Dinah is less alert than usual.
