It is ironic that Akhenaten’s attempt to replace the traditional gods with the worship of himself ultimately weakened the spiritual authority of the Egyptian king. In the aftermath, ordinary people started to build their own temples which had been a right reserved for royal family

This is my first time reading an English history book! I’m so glad I had this book with me during my trip to Egypt this summer. It really helped me understand the value of the cultural relics I saw in Cairo and Luxor. I hope I can finish it before next semester starts.
