The end of a very confusing tale about Beelzebub (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beelzebub)...

Mulling over Welsh's bit in this set a moment makes me think about the various scenes I'm seeing in his TV-show adaptation of Crime; I've not yet read the novel, but there's a fair bit of material borrowed in this SC2-story that's in the show aswell, it could be vice-versa and it equally be traits Welsh has been picking up over the years for his characters, a lot of stuff in Filth is scattered throughout too.

The setting here is Autumn 2021, we're now in Autumn 2023, COVID was rife back then and it seems to be the period that these three pals wrote their bits for Seal Club 2.

Some great, strong, familial energy here but it's written like King was on mushrooms or something...

There's a weird merging of politics and football and animals with emotions and human-like thought, it's a weird story pulled together like stringed-beef...

There was another pandemic which had also lasted to the present day and transmitted through mating, Gary shocked to hear that syphilis may have been spread by men raping sheep. Perhaps even 🐐 🐐.

A lot talk of different Ska bands in King's 'Grand Union', as opposed to it feeling like a proper story, it's almost segmented and broken down into more granular sequences.
I'm now in the last 40-ish pages and the traditional King is now coming out which is good to see; all round it's been a little confusing how it's been strung together, it's not as strong as 'The Beasts Of Brussels' from Seal Club 1; so far 3/5.

Irvine Welsh's 'In Real Life': an absolute beast of a story; 5/5.
