I read lots of this late last night and a little during my early-morning post-Jack-walk, coffee-and-Kindle-back-in-bed-time.
I wish I knew when this was written ; it takes place during one of the Paris Exhibitions but that merely places it anywhere from 1867 to 1900(the first Paris Exposition took place in 1858 but the story indicates it's not the first of them).
