Status Updates From Drencrom

This is the perfect example of a guy trying to write a novel about ego death when he doesn't really have anything new or interesting to add about the topic. Every description of the female main character is the most cliche trope of a manic pixie, chronically online woman who doesn't care what men think about her. There is a scene where a creepy guy talks about "ugh men are THE WORST," and her comeback is so stupid

Ah, ok... she's a rich kid play pretending poor. Makes sense. I guess that happens when you're bored at your beach house and read Kerouac.

I was so into this one but I think the “shit-gremlin” just isn’t for me 😄 I’m having a hard time pushing through these last 20 pages

Still, I know other readers will still dig this one

I didn’t love the forest scene where Coda follows her Drencrom. I don’t mean to be prudish but I struggle with too much detail about stomach issues when it’s intended to amp up the horror.

Imagine Jennifer’s iconic line (from Jennifer’s Body) “I am going to eat your soul... and SH*T IT OUT, Lesnicky!” manifested 😄

I love how we have two POVs and how dynamic they feel, just for us to realize how twisted they are inside. The metaphorical meaning behind the physical manifestation of a person’s Drencrom - light vs. dark / good vs. evil
