Interesting story but…
Terrible writing style !

Sletten's thesis is that Sarah was sane, that Sarah was a saint, and that Sarah had zero personality to speak of.

My kingdom for an iota of spice or a peevish thought! I'd honestly settle for a dirty sock at that point. Anything that isn't sunshine and roses!

Would-be lovers are declaring their affection toward one another after sharing... a dozen words?

The lack of development in this book AMAZES me.

I really don't understand the ratings for this one.

I don't want to say there isn't an audience for this (988 GR users have given it five stars), but Sletten isn't giving me anything to work with...

A love interest? Seriously? I can't imagine anything I'd want less in Olivia's situation.

Wishing this story had some genuine meat to it. Doesn't help that Sletten's style is light and uncomplicated. Virtually no worldbuilding.

First things first, I don't think every story needs to be a dual timeline.

Second, I appreciate that we're taking a more sympathetic view of Sarah. I've seen a lot of sensational characterizations and feel this is long overdue.

That said, I don't buy the idea that a San Jose family wouldn't talk about one of their ancestors working for Sarah Winchester. Doesn't feel at all realistic to me.
