WW1 is truly an endless subject and any presentation of the whole can only go so far in depth at any particular junction. Nonetheless, I think this book is doing a good job at constructing a frame. I do have some qualms about a potential bias I suspect in the author, mostly concerning manner of presentation at some places, and attributions the author makes, but for about all purposes this book remains pretty good.

Bit assertive and simplifying in it's reconstruction of the causes of ww1. A sort of diluted sonderweg thesis. Clark is superior here imo(and be it only that he will tell you what Leonhard tells you and then tells you more that is important as mutual context). That being said, once the lid has been taken off and the narrative of the war begins, oh boi does this book boil. Quite gripping
