UGH more absolute bollocks of research! Department 1A (political police) wasn’t the creation of the Nazis, it was created in 1925 to protect the republic so Schmidt not knowing about this is completely ridiculous. Did she do any research at all or did she just read some Wikipedia articles? 🙄

Ugh, I’m super annoyed that she keeps referring to Geheimpolizist this and that - that was the Gestapo and there was no Gestapo in 1923 or 1932 until after the Nazis took power. There’s a lot I like about this book but there are places where I’m thinking “did she do any research?” Probably I’m spoiled by the Gereon Rath and Bernie Gunther books.
