It is fascinating to read about how our intuition is wrong when we talk about very small things. The probability of hitting surfaces many times, the speed of diffusion, the probability to hit a receptor in the cellmembrane: These are non-linear properties and only on the scale of the cell they work reliably and well. This is what makes biological mechanisms work.
