Status Updates From Ghost of the Guadalupe

In the deserts of southern New Mexico, a young woman finds sanctuary from the men who hunt her at a stronghold established by a medical doctor and his friend Conor. But it is a time when people are being pushed off their land by burning them out or gunning them down - it is the work of the Santa Fe Ring, their crooked lawyers and their violent, unprincipled enforcers. And the sanctuary where Kat hides out is next.

Ron Schwab is a writing peer. Two years ago I voted for his novel Old Dogs in a literary competition. To my joy, he won the Peacemaker Award for that book. Now I’m reading another of his novels. Here we have a woman rescued from abusive men in a desert setting. Her rescuer is known as the Ghost of the Guadalupe. To me, I think he is something of a Zorro, just much rougher with his enemies.
