Great relationships and worldbuilding. Unafraid to propel the story forward rather than doling it out in a miserly fashion. Very effective, selective use of body horror — she does more with it as a threat than most authors do in its execution. Also, the core characters function simultaneously a found family and a network of thoughtful romances across the spectrum of what is possible and what isn’t.
