Enjoying this.” Like Leto and Melantho’s personalities. Narration is good.

I have an ARC (oops this came out in 2023) so it has no page numbers, guessing where I'm at.

Not sure why but I'm struggling to get into this one, like I'm not fully immersed in the story yet...

"damn fashion" we're not above hetero cliches while undressing. also why are we NOW having a last-night-on-earth romp

this would be far more interesting from Mathias' POV as two girl come back and haunt him

gods worldbuilding is ass

I hate cheating storylines

why is Mathias adressing her as Leto now???

why does the raft idea suddenly work?

Leto reads the entrails of pigeons and then admits it's a scam?? when ancient greek religions and roman especially took it seriously???

and then to end the curse of killing 12 girls every year, he wants... ANOTHER death!

the curse thing makes no sense, Melantho explains it and Leto asks correctly why Poseidon would want deaths in retribution for more deaths. "Gods feed on the terror of mortals" - no they don't??? The Greek gods are an anthropomorphic mirror of humans, they're not malicious, capricious deities or demons?? "where there is no fear, there are no prayers" no???

the anachronisms are driving me insane, as is the lack of craft in the writing
