Status Updates From Wise Church Planting: Twelv...

“Over the months we have accompanied them to get to know (The Rock Church), and in a clear way the Lord has guided them to flourish in that church, teaching our church the joy, not always easy to learn, of blessing another church by giving the gifts that are the Lord’s.” (Pg. 109-110)

“It’s hard (planting a new church). Things happen really slowly.” Added words in parenthesis.

“Begin with a larger core team. Take things slower – work, plan, and strategize towards a twenty-year vision, not just getting things off the ground.”

“we know we’re not looking for the perfect planter, but maybe the wider planting community needs to do more work in patiently recruiting, training, and equipping core teams? If we know areas where the key leader is weak then we need to construct a team around them to help them play to their strengths and cover their weaknesses.” (Pg. 61)

“I need to partner with others who are church planters, not just those from my church, but others to help me grow and to also help with training resources.” (Pg. 33)

Confessions from a church planter, “
• I was overly determined, worked too much, came across harsh to people.
• I had too much confidence in my own ability.
• The main cause of my demise? Accusers called me a bully and narcissist.” (Pg. 24)
