Wow. Alina is kind of a rude biotch. I sort of forgot about her character from book 4. Whoops. So far, Rook is missing the whimsy the previous series had in spades. Some of Jackaby’s lines are still humorous but not to the degree I remember

Though considered a standalone one would definitely need to read the series first or be super lost.
