“The Locked Room” this one gave me the CREEPS i loved this, so unsettling hits a lot of my fears wow 5/5 ⭐️

“The Fated Interview” ooooo this one was so good, the way our jobs and capitalism take over our whole lives she started seeing human beings as categories in terms of how useful they are. tying it in with how her partner left her for someone much younger, the apathy we have for those around us!! the reveal was satisfying and then tying it all back to money 5/5 ⭐️

“Angel-Face” definitely an interesting story leaving a lot to think about, this intensity of emotions and approaches to parenting forcing you to become something else spurred on by outside praise. I think Simon should not be judged for his nature though 4/5⭐️

“The Hated House” this one made me quite emotional, resenting your mum because her attempts at keeping the peace are annoying instead of directing the anger towards the father. very common. 4/5 ⭐️

“The Baby Sitter” Due to the nature of the story you do feel sympathy and anxiety for the family and the narrator but she’s also not a perfect character which is always fun to read, keep you on your toes. Lot’s to be said about how anxious she is vs how relaxed her husband is and how he just doesn’t get it due to her role as the mother. 3/5 ⭐️

“The Irony of Fate” Bless, the narrator is unfortunately quite real to me in this story. kind of wholesome? … maybe? 3/5 ⭐️

“The Ever Fair” oooo, i really liked the concept of this one. It feels so relevant especially in the age of such heavy advertisements and the constant push of anti aging supplements etc. 4/5 ⭐️

“Old Daniel’s Treasure” men of an older generation thinking the women in their life are cuckoo meanwhile … i enjoyed this story alot, the narrator whilst an ass was fun to read the perspective of 3/5 ⭐️

“The Special Gift” This one got under my skin, the idea of unknowingly stepping into danger by trying to be kind is a very familiar concept for a lot of women. This whole story reads very similar to a story of sexual assault. The horror of being told what will happen and then seeing the signs, knowing what will come before it happens. 4/5 ⭐️ very unsettling to me

“The last day of spring” quite a tragic story, i loved following this character’s narrative despite knowing that I couldn’t trust all that she was saying and seeing what was to come. The life her character lived and the scenario’s she has been through whilst indicative of her character serve a larger purpose to critique the way our society works. still relevant

“In The New House” this story is REALLY interesting, the end leaves me with more questions than when i began but i love it for that. It begs the question of whether the narrator is entirely reliable about other situations throughout the story. very fun. 4/5 ⭐️

“The Betrayal” Title of this story is fun and links to a couple of things that happen within it, interesting story with a lot you can make your inferences from, two seemingly obnoxious characters 3/5 ⭐️

first short story “The Quiet Game” was good, i knew what was going to happen as soon as a very key moment happened which just added to the dread. excited to read the rest of the stories from this collection. 4/5 ⭐️
