I swear Siel's dominant trait is going yolo especially when it's a Very Bad Decision. I saw reviews saying he's inconsistent as a character, but I feel he's very consistent in his inability to control irrational impulses. Chaotic stupid indeed. Caius is a great foil to him because he pathologically sticks to the rules, often when that's a Very Bad Idea too.

I'm still baffled why is this marketed as MM fantasy romance. It's a pretty interesting adventure / political intrigue fantasy with gays. Be gay, do crime, etc. The leads are lawful stupid and chaotic stupid, which creates a lot of tension and drama between them, but the romance is more of an afterthought. Still, I'm oddly invested in those disaster gays and I wanna know how this ends.

The romance in this is weirdly meticulous. I wouldn’t really call it romance.

I'm surprised how captivating and vivid the characters are. Also, contrary to its subtitle on Amazon "MM fantasy enemies-to-lovers" it's actually not a romance. It's a political intrigue fantasy with themes of manipulation, both personal and political. And you know what, I'm loving it.
