This series is so interesting and the illustrations are beautiful. The first story was of the Irish hero Cuchulain.

Pretty boring so far. A lot of names, people fighting the same enemy’s forces over and over again, all tied together. Basically it’s probably a fairly extensive legend told in metaphorical bullet points, but it’s still long and wordy, lacking the variety of pictures of the ghost volume. I’ve heard the second half is better and it had better be.

So far it doesn’t stack up to the Ghosts book in the series. That one had many artistic pictures, a wide array of content, and inspired further research into its tales. This, so far, has largely been two related stories (with one interlude story), and it isn’t that interesting. Just a great warrior fighting wars and, inevitably, winning. Not winning interestingly, though. Just winning.
