I can’t stand Xingyin’s immature affections

Xingyin keeps dumbly acting impetuously… years has past but she hasn’t learned caution? Ughhh I hate the protagonist who keeps putting themselves into danger bc they don’t learn from their experiences.., FitzChivalry type of protagonists loose my empathy

Boring… the writing is good, but characters don’t seem to grow and the plot is too formulaic, too much like a rehash of the first book’s plot

I honestly don't know if I'll finish, despite being so close. How dare this be filed as romance as it is fully a tragedy. The MC is bombarded with tragedy after tragedy and when it feels like she should finally have her happily ever after she continues to pine for a lost love that she should not have forgiven and "loved" again. It's gross that she forgave him and even worse to give up the real love for his memory.
